GROWING DAY LILIES IS EASY!

Q.  How long will a day lily bloom?

A.  Each cultivar is different, but the average is usually about 4 weeks.  However, it is possible to have above-average performance from some cultivars that have been established for two years or more.  Cultivars that are categorized as rebloomers provide another 3-4 weeks of bloom, especially if given adequate water regularly.

Q.  How often should I water?

A.  At least once a week.  Too frequent watering after initial planting may be harmful.

Q.  When is the best time to plant?

A.  Spring.

Q.  Should I fertilize?

A.  Do not place fertilizer in the planting hole; instead, side dress in early spring with a balanced fertilizer.

Q.  Where can I plant day lilies?

A.  Day lilies prefer at least a half day of sun to a full day of sun.  They fit well in borders, in front of shrubs, under trees, and as accent plants.
